Calling Out

Khalid Mukhtar · May 25, 2022 · Leave a Comment

My Lord you know what’s in my heart
‎But teach me not to shy
‎Away from bringing to my tongue
‎A supplicating cry

‎For sea was split and ark was built
‎And petition declared
‎From darknesses where ordinary
‎Souls would have despaired

‎لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّآ اَنت

Sweet and Sour

It doesn’t really matter
Just where your tears go
Streaming down your face
Onto the prayer rug
Into your trusted palm So long
As sweet remembrance is your drug
That turns your salty grief
Into saccharine relief
It doesn’t really matter
