Khalid Mukhtar · May 13, 2020 ·

I don’t know how to ask for
What I want
I don’t know how to ask for
What I need
I don’t know how to know
What I do not
Lord, I don’t even know how
I should plead

Khalid Mukhtar · May 12, 2020 ·

Make it so my sins dissolve
In the surf of Your maghfirah
And take away my pettinesses
As the waters recede, Ya Ghafūr

9-18-1441

Khalid Mukhtar · May 11, 2020 ·

O Answerer of supplications
Transcending shape and form
O Guarantor of maghfirah
And shelter from the storm

You, and You alone, can bring
My heart and brain and tongue
In line with Your sweet pleasure
Till the words You will are sprung

In a total eclipse of my nafs

9-17-1441

Khalid Mukhtar · May 10, 2020 ·

One thousand armed
And confident
Facing a third
Weary, spent
The battle lines
Straight and taut
The bow of faith
And the bow of naught
Strung and drawn
By the sage fingers
Of generals once
Bound in clanship
Now split by the sting
Of truth’s whip

9-16-1441

Khalid Mukhtar · May 9, 2020 ·

It’s happened before
And happened a lot
That the losses were more
Than the profits we got

How it scares us each time
That our share is constrained
As we’re taken by everything
We could have gained

Know our portion is ours
And what isn’t won’t be
All we’ve got is to take
An opportunity

To be glad

9-15-1441

Khalid Mukhtar · May 8, 2020 ·

My lips are dry
My voice is low
My speech
Incoherent and slow
I’m down and out
But I know You know
And a sip of that
Is enough for me

Khalid Mukhtar · May 7, 2020 ·

How lush is Your verdant Qudrah
Its valleys are green with:
When khalid grows weary of sinning
Though You don’t tire to forgive

9-12-1441

Khalid Mukhtar · May 5, 2020 ·

That day the hordes of tyrants crawl
While hearts like faces bare it all
All witnessing the justice done
To everything and everyone

9-11-1441

Khalid Mukhtar · May 4, 2020 ·

This world is wont
To fill my eye
With every dark
And poison dye

So cleanse my lens
Ya Basīr, that I may see
Through the eye
Of my heart

Khalid Mukhtar · May 3, 2020 ·

Like this waxing gibbous
Laden with your rahmah
Bring to life and make whole
My dying and misshapen soul
